There are many things that you might be aware of at any given moment. Perhaps walking down the street, you notice the pressure of each step as it comes in contact with the ground, the sight of cars as they pass by, the sound of people conversing, the sweet smells coming from a local bakery. You might also notice that there are thoughts occurring related to all that is going on around you, or on something previously experienced or desired to be experienced. Do you separate those thoughts as ‘me’ and all else that is happening as ‘other’?
You are aware of so much more than these thoughts, so what makes these thoughts so special that you separate them from all other occurrences? Why take thoughts personally while all else is considered impersonal? They are merely another occurrence which you are aware of among all else, a small wave in a mighty ocean. You are that which is aware, and that which is aware is not separate from all that it is aware of. The sights, sounds, tastes, smells, feelings and even thoughts, all originate from and find their relative place in your aware presence.
