That which sees the clouds in the sky is the same as that which hears the wind rustling the leaves. That which feels the warmth of the sun is that which smells the aroma of a flower and tastes the sweetness of fruit. That which is aware and registers all of these occurrences is also aware of thoughts as they arise. Thus, thoughts are merely another occurrence which is happening among all else. You are and have always ever been that which is effortlessly noticing all of these things happening. No one thing can be used to exclusively represent the totality of your being, not any sight, sensation, emotion, experience or thought pattern. You are not your thoughts nor experiences, but that which is aware of them and all else.
