Is it necessary to TRY to be what you are? Or to ATTAIN your true nature? Obviously you already are, so trying to be that is like water trying to be wet. There’s simply no need to try, it is what it is. If currently you already are, then what is there to attain in the future? What’s being looked for is not found outside of ourselves, at some point in time, what’s being looked for is what we are, right here and now.
It’s so effortless and natural, that any effort to BE what we are, creates an imaginary dilemma to resolve. It’s the first step away from recognizing what is effortlessly here. It’s the first illusion of being separate from what we are and of needing to figure out how to return to presence. But even the one who thinks he must get back, who feels themselves to be a separate and independent entity apart from consciousness, is made of that very consciousness. So no matter what this one does, or thinks of themselves, it has never gone anywhere or become anything else.
When the effort to be or know what we are naturally ceases, then what remains is your natural state of being, and is known effortlessly as what you are. It’s not attained, it’s what we’ve always been, it’s simply recognized once we’re no longer caught up in the imagination, and believing ourselves to be what we are not.
