“Does God exist?” Though the one asking might feel this is a serious question, it’s kind of like someone asking you “Where are my glasses?”, while wearing them as they search for their glasses. Not that the question shouldn’t be asked and sought out, but for the simple fact that the answer is always staring the seeker in the face, yet goes on looking every which way, overlooking the obvious, taking it as inconsequential and irrelevant.
Understand that what’s seeking this answer, is itself only a thought, and YOU are what’s aware of this. That thought is really seeking this aware presence, though calling it God, and has all sorts of ideas about what that might be, searching in the domain of knowledge and appearances, not realizing that it’s trying to find YOU, the one who knows of it’s coming and going, it’s hopes, fears, concerns, and seeking.
When the thought which seeks, recognizes that it’s being watched at all times by that which is being sought, and realizes they are not two, but one, then not only is ‘God’ found, but the one who finds is seen through by you, as having only been a mere thought, a fanciful idea based on the illusion of separation. The spell is broken, identification with the I-thought is resolved, and you remain free, as you always were, and thought is freed from the biases and shackles of personhood.
